It is broadly divided into three categories:

  • household items
  • express deliveries
  • shipping orders
  • freight shipments.

Each of them has a price that depends on the National Motor Freight Classification system. Each class also corresponds to the goods that can be shipped. Let's say that for household goods, only the goods that can be considered furniture and household appliances can be subject to the price ranges and services offered in this area.

Express deliveries typically include mail, commercial paper and envelopes. Packages, on the other hand, contain items that usually come in boxes. However, freight transportation includes all other large items that cannot be transported by the lower class services.

Air freight is divided into two categories: less than truckload freight, which can basically accommodate items that weigh less than 15,000 pounds and have a height of exactly 28 inches or even less than that. The other subcategory of freight shipments is Truckload Freight, which includes items that weigh 43,000 pounds or less and are no longer than 53 inches.

Larger shipments are typically transported in supercargo aircraft. These relatively large items, such as military equipment, aircraft and helicopters, are transported by the Antonov AN-225 – the largest cargo plane in the world.

For each type of air freight, there are in principle a few airlines that can do this job. Typically, smaller items can be shipped on passenger planes converted into air freight carriers.

The Boeing 747-400 is generally configured as an air cargo carrier because it has space large enough to accommodate items. But because it wasn't designed purely as an air freight carrier, there are some crucial limitations that prevent its absolute use for exactly this purpose. However, when used as an air freight carrier, it can work well enough to transport different types of cargo to the suitable destinations.

Airlines such as Bekins and North American Van Lines specialize in delivering household goods. FedEx Express, UPS and DHL classify the field of express deliveries, but it is actually a game for everyone as this field seems to be the easiest path if you want to make money in the transportation industry.

The major carriers in the parcel division (also called ground shipping) are FedEx Grounds and UPS. While for freight areas with less than trucks and trucks, airline names such as Old Dominion, AAA Cooper, Averett Express, Roadway, Schneider and JB Hunt are the most reliable.

In the air freight industry there are also intermediaries on the ground. They are often referred to as freight brokers because they are the institutions that broker agreements between shippers and air freight companies. Real estate agents are reached through online marketplaces. They are the best sources of discounts because they have direct contact with air service providers.

The major air freight brokers are CHRobinson, Hub Group, Twin Modal and Rockwell.

If you want better and easier access to the names mentioned above, your best bet is to find resources through online intermediaries such as Transcore DAT, Freightquote.com, and uShip.com.
